Which way quilting

I have done it both ways. If it is a throw or something for a child, I try to make sure I have the directional fabric going every which way, so that no matter how they are using it, some of the words will be in the "right" direction. That way, there is no "right" way to use the throw - just use it!!

Speaking of not using a quilt - my mom has the throw I made for her out of the Lovely fabric for the Iron Q contest neatly folded on the back of her chair. When I am there with my niece and nephew, we pull it out and make it our tent, etc - I thought she was going to faint the first time we did it I'm not just buying fabric, I am supporting the economy A bad day in the sewing room is better than a good day at the office.

I'm just enough OCD that I like the directional fabrics to go all the same direction. I'm getting better about it. In the Hourglass baby quilt I'm working on, there was no way all the fabrics would be going the same direction when making those hourglass blocks Jenny's method. That's is how I feel too! I'm glad I'm on the right track. Thanks so much for your help!

I'm a lot OCD. The more I look at this pattern - the more I think it needs to be kept in the same direction - with the "shadow" it would look wrong with the directional fabric in different directions.
